Magazine Project Genre Research - "Entertainment Weekly"

Entertainment Weekly was my second choice of magazine. The cover layout is very similar to People Magazine with large and bold font in black and eye-catching colors, this time being red and blue. The title even has a press badge on it, befitting the main topic of the magazine, a new fall TV show about the press.

Most of the articles in this magazine are previews of prime-time cable TV shows, most of them appearing in the center of the magazine like People. It also has a large block of TV drama ads for the first few pages of the magazine form NBC and even more TV dramas throughout. The rest of the adds are all very varied, but I will list some of the more unique ones: a PSA for homeless dogs, a Black & Mild cigarillo ad, another ad for some vape pen, Real Simple cleaning products, a Geico ad, and an ad for The Lion King on Broadway.

The photos are, as to be expected, of the subject of the article, usually a celebrity. However, most of the photos regarding upcoming TV shows are often of the starring actor(s) in full costume an on the set. These are either profile/still-shots or action-shots.

Entertainment Weekly circulates 1,511,979 units annually, making it the 44th most circulated magazine in the U.S. It has not received any notable awards.
