Digital Distribution Research - "The Brooklyn Rail"

The Brooklyn Rail is only published at a rate of ten magazines per year on any given day of said year, additionally it is a non-profit publishing company, so it does not possess an app with which to make distributions. The magazine does, however, use a website to distribute downloadable versions of its issues to subscribers, with 10,000 unique readers per day.

Though this isn't a digital method, the magazine also uses the analog method of distributing its magazines, by delivery to institutions, but makes clever use of this opportunity by distributing the magazines (free of charge) to various institutions related to its subject matter. (This is, however, exclusive to the Manhattan metropolitan area and boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens in New York City.) These institutions include Hunter College, Columbia University, Knockdown Center, and the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library. The Brooklyn Rail amasses 60,000 print subscribers per year in this fashion.

What I could learn from the Brooklyn Rail's distribution methods, it is that I need to place my magazine where my audience would be.
