Flat Plan

Here is my flat plan. Below are reasons for my article choices:

  • Kettle of Fish: Keeps the readers in the know regarding the area's most famous and influential cover band and up to date if the reader already knew of the group.
  • What's New in Sarasota?: Keeps readers up to date and informed about new art events in the area such as the Sarasota Chalk Festival, or a new snuff film at the Burn's Court Cinema, or a new exhibit at the Ringling Museum of Art.
  • Seagulls: Next Photography Sensation: Honestly, this was a article I made up for the absurdity of the headline. If it were a real article, I would imagine that its purpose would be to shed some light on the next photography fad and perhaps portray seagulls in a new light.
  • The Art of the Abstract: Informs readers of the abstract movement (in art) and its significance to painting as a whole.
  • Game Design: Hobby or Artform?: Intended to be a debate-format article where two experts would debate on whether or not game design is a legitimate artform.
  • Featured Pieces of the Month: Highlights extraordinary pieces of visual art (paintings, sculptures, and photographs) on display in Sarasota. Done monthly. Informs the reader of great pieces of art in the area.
  • Spotlight!: Working Stage Crew: Highlights an often undervalued part of theatrical performance: working as tech and crew. Informs readers of how much goes on behind the scenes to create their favorite stage productions.
  • Featured Creator: Alvin Wallace: Informs readers of an exceptional artist whose work has contributed to the Sarasota area. If that's actually the name of a Sarasota County artist, it's purely coincidental. I don't actually know anyone named Alvin Wallace.
  • Events Schedule: Similar to "What's New in Sarasota?" but looks several months forward.
  • Letter from the Editor: Exactly what it sounds like. Thanks the readers for reading the magazine.
